  • Please note, we are now accepting payments for 2026. If you can ensure you pay your group leaders by February 20th. If you wish to become a member but have not attended any of the groups yet, or are not living in Spain fulltime, please contact us via the Subscribe button on the Website.

Please note, once you receive your Membership card, please carry it with you to every group you attend, especially in the early months, as many members belong to several different groups and it will save group leaders asking you if you have paid if you can just show your card when you arrive.

We look forward to seeing you all in the coming months.

Petanca Group – this new group will be held at Laguna Beach Urbanisation on Thursday 29th January at 10-30am. Ian Butcher will be leading it, and it is open to anyone wanting to play. For further information on starting time contact Ian

Art Group – Sadly, this group will not be able to meet in January as the venue we use is closing for a well-deserved holiday for its staff. Therefore, our next Meeting will not be until February 4th.  We usually run weekly, 2-4pm at La Azotea, the old Bio Beach Bar in El Morche. The group will be led by Jeanne Etherington. This group is open to all abilities, from experienced artists to complete beginners. If you have ever looked at a painting and thought ‘I wish I could do that’, then come along and have a go. You can bring your own projects, or we have some supplies we can let you use. The main aim of the group is to bring folk together with a similar interest. No one will be made to take a certain path, we will all have our own style, and we want folk to explore it in an organic way. Please contact Jean for further information.

Craft Group – In Abeyance until further notice.

    Mahjong

He is very keen on growing this group and will be running it weekly on a Thursday morning at Mena Golf, Laguna Beach, 10am-1pm. If you would like any more information, contact Ramon

Unfortunately this new group will have to be put into abeyance due to sudden health issues. Steve Clark apologises profusely, but these things happen as we are all getting older. Once he is back in full health, he will be in touch. Get better soon Steve, our thoughts are with you

  • Hello everyone and a healthy, happy and prosperous 2026 to you all. Much has happened in 2025 for our organisation, much of which was very positive. I am hoping this will continue in the same vein into 2026. My immediate concern is to increase our membership to, at least, 200 by the year end. Can I ask each member to recruit at least 1 new member during the year? With yearly subs at €5 there is insufficient income to meet the needs of the organisation, now or into the future. Our new Website, U3Ax.com, will be launched on the 12th January. 500 A5 leaflets are also available for recruitment purposes via group leaders. In addition, membership cards no longer carry the year. Group leaders will be asked to write the year on the back of the cards once the payment has been received. If you have any doubts or anxiety about the future of our U3A Axarquia rest assured your committee remain fully committed to its future, enjoy the journey with us. Mike Bowen
